POSITANO GUIDE

We've been to Positano twice, and I would return every year if it was up to me. You definitely don't need an entire week here, though. I would recommend staying in Positano for 4-5 days and maybe visiting Capri or areas in Campania. Once, we combined it with a visit to Apulia, which was also very nice.

How to get around:

Do not bring your car to Positano. You will not find a parking spot, and the hotels only have limited spots and are very expensive. Instead, stay at a hotel or Airbnb that is within walking distance from the restaurants and shops. You could also rent a scooter which is around 60€ per day during the high season.

Where to stay:

Although Positano and Amalfi have some beautiful hotels, I would recommend you the Airbnb we stayed in. It was renovated in March 2020, which we didn't know by the time we booked it. It has a spectacular view onto Spiaggia di Arienzo. One of my highlights was the balcony! Definitely one of our best breakfast views so far. Another highlight was the sound of the waves at night. I haven't slept so peacefully in ages. The apartment was within 12 min walking distance from the city center/ Spiaggia grande. However, the streets are very curvy and don't always have a walkway. You also had private access from the apartment to the beach. However, you have to be superfit to walk up the stairs again. On the beach you will find the Arienzo Beach Club, where you can book your sunbeds in advance, taste some delicious food and just relax. This beach is definitely more relaxed than the Spiaggia grande. If you don't have access through an apartment, there is also a boat shuttle that brings you from Spiaggia grande to Arienzo beach but makes sure to reserve your sunbed in advance.

What to do:

I would definitely recommend you spend half a day at Arienzo beach. We also stayed at the Spiaggia grande another day but found it very busy. If you can, rent a boat and visit the surrounding islands and beaches, this was so much fun and cost around 150€ for 3 hours via Grassi Junior Positano Boat Tour Agency. Next time we would book it for a bit longer and visit Capri too. Another day we rented the scooter and took a drive down to Amalfi. Definitely worth visiting and strolling around for some time. Of course, we also walked around Positano at night, which is so dreamy, and even took a swim at night.

Where to eat:

Buy breakfast at the local supermarket and have it on the balcony of your Airbnb.

Ristorante & Winebar Da Gabrisa

La Cambusa Positano - great view and huge portions

have a fresh juice from the orange and lemon stands

Saraceno d'oro for Lunch

Ice Cream Spot: Collina Positano bakery

Il Fornillo Positano

Chez Black Positano - Great Lobster

My favorite Photospots:

- The fruit stand that is located in the curve of via Arienzo & Via Laurito, one curve before the San Pietro Hotel.

- On the balcony of the restaurant of the hotel Montemare

- At the Arienzo Beach Club

- At the Spiagga Grande

- At the first tourist postcard stand of Amalfi
